The workshop start with an short introduction about abstraction. Seamstresses works simultaneously in the same room to translate the sketches to professional flags. By doing this and unify the flags to the same size and material, they become one unit. We create a visual plurality of flags that would be impossible to create by yourself. In The Flag Project abstraction is wrenched from the comfort of the canvas and taken out into the world. The project shows that everyone, regardless of background and prior knowledge, has the ability to create great art in an creative context. All the workshop participants were dressed in identical red-white-striped T-shirts to form a cohesive abstract unit.
