Early one Morning
the HUNA Sculpture Park, Dubai
This sculpture serves not only as a piece of art but also as a meeting place and playground—its function shifting depending on one’s state of mind. Creating social spaces is essential to me, and at the core of this work are the concepts of rest and play. The sculpture invites participation; it comes to life through interaction. Constructed from twisting and turning building blocks, the structure forms a dynamic, varied pattern. Despite being made of lacquered steel, it has a soft appearance, with smooth, rounded shapes. Its repetitive form is intentionally interrupted by unexpected curves and directions, creating the impression of motion and spontaneity. It plays with the idea of a single-line drawing—an artistic flow translated into a large-scale, three-dimensional sculpture. From different angles, the sculpture transforms dramatically, at times resembling a kind of script written in an entirely new language. The forms evoke an organic, architectural quality—a soft modernist piece, reminiscent of colorful drainpipes imbued with both artistic and social purpose. Designed to be used, this sculpture rejects elitism. It is meant to be both visually striking and functionally inclusive—an abstract, accessible gathering place for all.
