Subject of Art, 2012

Materials: lead pencils
Size: 17 x17 x 17 cm
Photo: Tedd Soost

The object shows how our everyday life can be viewed as an on-going exhibition of geometric and abstract patterns. Ordinary pencils arranged in small squares display a variation of a topographical theme. The title: “Subject of Art” is in itself almost a manifest of Jacob Dahlgren’s thoughts about art and the ideas of authenticity. The cheap, ordinary pencils become refined as material and artefacts.
